Marianne Gunther-Murphy MFT is one of 1500 Nationally Certified Group Therapists (CGPs) and has facilitated groups for much of her life in agencies, for Stanford University, in hospital settings, schools and in her private practice. She is committed to group work as an amazing way to deepen the human bond and as a powerful way to help resolve personal suffering, and increase the capacity for peace within oneself and in the world. Running groups is one of the joys of Marianne's private practice. She is adept at using a variety of group models to keep a group dynamic, growth oriented and safe for members. Living in Asia, and working for 30 years in Oakland clinics and agencies has given her a broad interest in working with people of diverse cultures. Her groups are welcoming spaces for members of all races, religions or sexual orientations. In addition to facilitating groups, seeing couples and individuals in her private practice, she is on the faculty at The Wright Institute, The Psychotherapy Institute, and The Women's Therapy Center where she supervises and teaches. She co-founded the Group Therapy Training Program at The Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley (TPI) which offers advanced group training for licensed clinicians. Previously, she worked as the Training Director for Parental Stress Services. |
